1. What is shared Web Hosting/Virtual Hosting? top..

Shared Hosting/Virtual Hosting means that you share the server resources with many other customers. We monitor our shared server vigorously to ensure that no one abuses the server’s resources.

2. What domain name should I choose? top..

You should choose a domain name that is related to your site. You should also choose a name that is easy to remember. This will enable your customer or friends to remember your domain name.

3. What is Data Transfer ? top..

In general, any outward-bound traffic from a web site, with the exception of e-mail, is considered to be data transfer. For example, each time a web page, image, midi file, quick time video, etc. is loaded, data transfer is generated. Each of our plans includes a generous amount of free data transfer, which should be more than enough for most sites. In fact, 98% to 99% of our customers operate within their free data transfer allowance. Additional data transfer beyond the threshold will incur a small charge.

4. What is Disk Storage Space? top..

Disk storage space refers to the amount of server disk storage specifically allocated to your account. This space is used to store your html files, graphics, audio clips, POP mail messages, pdfs, and other files that make up your web site. Each of our plans includes a specified allotment of disk storage space, but additional space can be purchased for any account in 5MB blocks. 5. How much Disk Storage Space do I get? top..

6. Does Hostnix provide a Control Panel? top..

All users have access to a web-based Control Panel that allows you to add, delete and configure mail boxes, mail forwarders, and mailing lists.

7. Can I create my own “404 Not Found” error page? top..

Yes you can. You can give notification to your viewer in the 404 Not Found page to notify them that they have typed in an invalid address or you may also redirect them to another page in the case that they type the wrong address.

8. Do customer get CGI script support? top..

All customers have access to a personal cgi-local directory in which you can place your own custom CGI scripts. Hostnix provides some free scripts that customers may use or customer can also browse the web for free pre-written scripts that they can install in their web site.

9. What are Site Statistics? top..

Site statistic is a term used to describe a program that gives out reports regarding the site’s activity. We currently use Webalizer for our customer’s site statistic needs.

10. How can I check my site statistics? top..

Once you are set up with site statistics program, we will e-mail you the address that you can go to view your site statistics.
